yikes Elena, you and me are quite opposite as I really don't like old movies or horror.
I love contemporary/indie human stuggle/drama type movies, with the occasional Avatar thrown in;)

Greaat tastes Elena, I wrote part of my first degree thesis about Citizen Kane! I'm mad about old movies - am one of those freaks who think the best was all released before 1960, but there are a lot of modern movies I love anyways My favorite ever is The Night of the Hunter, with both my favorite actors: Robert Mitchum and Lillian Gish. I usually don't like horror/thriller movies, as I'm easily scared by tension scenes and deadly scared by blood - I like Tarantino's movies despite this, because he's brilliant at pointing blood as fake. I don't like vampire movies either as vampires are my biggest fear. My favorite genre is Noir. And also musical, any movie about rock and roll, about Frankenstein, I love biopics and lond slow neverending movies (one of my favorite ones is The New World by T. Malick, more than 3 hours of movie and less than 15 minutes of dialogues! )

Ah Metarie, I wrote, time ago, an essay about Citizen Kane and post-modernism, I focused on the mirrors scene as a kind of summary of what post-modernism was... The night of the hunter is truly amazing. My fav actors are mainly Gregory Peck, Joseph Cotten, Welles, Cushing....

oh wow! I wrote about Citizen Kane in relationship to Velvet Goldmine, which is basically a remake in glam rock key. (My thesis was about Todd Haynes).
Oh wow, Gregory Peck was special! And Welles was one hell of an actor, truly amazing!

I like good films. ;D
Definitely drawn to more witty, dialogue-heavy indie films like Reservoir Dogs, Clerks, High Fidelity and so on. I'm also a great lover of films that are just so damn cool it's unbelievable, the best example of this is Fight Club.
Got three films that rotate as my favourite film...
High Fidelity - huge Hornby fan, love John Cusack, actually prefer this to the novel.
Into the Wild - directed by Sean Penn, about a college graduate who leaves home to tramp it around America. Incredible film.
The Prestige - my favourite Chris Nolan film, even over The Dark Knight. One of the best films I've ever seen (as well as just one of my favourites).

I love High Fidelity <3 A tonne of records and John Cusack is A OK with me He's a great actor. My favourite films are: Almost Famous - I can seriously watch this film over and over and never get bored. Garden State, Empire Records, Wall E, Pretty Woman <3 Aww, Little Miss Sunshine is a great film. Steve Carell is amazing, he can play so many characters. I think that's rare these days. And "You just do what you love and f**k the rest." one of the greatest lines of all time.

I adore High Fidelity! Have been obsessed with it for a huge part of my life. I slightly prefer the book, just because the movie setting was switched to Chicago, and it lost all the britishness that I love. Anyways I think John Cusack is great, and Jack Black too!

Haha High Fidelity is one of my favourites too!
My film taste is pretty random other than that, I actually love a good old Ealing Comedy though, The Ladykillers especially (the original one, the new one is, in my opinion, completely hideous) and actually I often get drawn into wartime films as well. This mostly comes from my Dad's influence, we're losers and have competitions guessing the year films were made in! Haha.
I have a big soft spot for French cinema. Amelie is my favourite movie, mostly because it's ingrained in my mind after studying it at college, hehe. But there's something a bit odd about a lot of French film that I love.
My guilty pleasure is definitely the big budget action and superhero films. There's just a lot of fun, and usually the plots are ridiculous, but I can settle down to watch them any day of the week!

Did anyone see Paranormal Activity? A lot of people said it was one of the scariest films ever, but I didn't find it so scary. I am not a big fan of the "shaky camera" film like that, but this Spanish one called [REC] was actually very scary, and I liked it a lot.

[REC] is a masterpiece!! The second part is awful but the first one is incredible and so scary... also my block of flats is almost the same as the one of the film so just imagine when the lift breaks down and I have to go upstairs and the light turns off!!! I haven't seen Paranormal Activity yet, but I read really bad opinions about it. I forgot to mention that I love Italian Horror films especially Dario Argento's
